What is Kilballyowen Dev CLG

Kilballyowen is a townland and Parish on the Loop Head Peninsula, in West Clare, that includes the villages of Kilbaha and Cross, the townlands of Fodera, Ross, Moneen, Tullig, Rehy, Kilclogher, Fierd, Claughansavaun and their environs.

Kilballyowen Development Company Limited by Guarantee, was set up in 2002 to facilitate local development projects in the areas of Kilballyowen. The group maintains and enhances local amenities, promotes social inclusion and aims to improve, where possible, the quality of life of locals and visitors.

The Structure

As a company limited by guarantee, we have Directors, a chairman, a secretary, a treasurer and an assistant secretary.

We also have a strong group of volunteers who partake in helping out with various projects -
and some who join specific ‘Special Interest Groups’ in order to complete or run a project.

Kilballyowen Development is also a registered Charity.

The Role

The role of Kilballyowen Dev CLG is to help promote and carry out development in the community which specifically improves the quality of life for locals and visitors to the area.

It is also our role to maintain all local attractions and improve the area environmentally, economically where possible, and socially.

To help develop the area so that people can live and work here.

Charitable Purpose

The group maintains and enhances local amenities, promotes social inclusion and aims to improve, where possible, the quality of life of locals and visitors. Our Charitable Purpose is to establish, promote and operate a community development programme which will act as a catalyst for community development in our local area with a few to improving social and cultural welfare of those in our community.

Our operational policy (which can be requested in full) is based around promoting and adhering to our key values of honesty, openness, transparency, community, inclusiveness, kindness and diversity in all aspects of carrying out our defined objectives.

Child Safeguarding Statement

 It is of the utmost importance that Kilballyowen Development maintain a safe and family friendly environment particularly around the running of classes, camps or any public events that involve direct care for or contact with children.

Those members of the committee who are in contact with children during said events are garda vetted and are known to the parents. They have also carried out ‘Child Safeguarding Training’. We have a policy around handling difficult situations as they might arise and have clear rules for appropriate interactions with children.
